presence of an angel of the Lord (Num. 22:31; Rev. 1:17). When we bow our knees, not only do we acknowledge the humbling of our spirit and the submission of our will, but we also physically demonstrate to God that we are honoring the verse teaching that “every knee should bow … every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Phil. 2:10–11) and are submitting to His authority and Lordship. There is no set physical position required when praying, but bowing on your knees is most definitely biblical and honorable. 2. I NCLUDE THE L ORD’S P RAYER At some point near the beginning of his prayer, my dad would pray the Lord’s Prayer. The disciples of Christ observed that when Christ prayed prayers, they were answered. These were not like the numerous formal prayers offered in the synagogues, but they were prayers from His heart. The disciples approached Christ and requested, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). Christ gave His followers a pattern to pray:

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
