Masonic & Occult Symbols Illustrate

“A painting of the Funeral Ritual represents the judgment of a soul; it advances toward the goddess Thme, who wears an ostrich feather on her head; beside this divinity of justice and truth, appears the scale in which Anubis and Horus weigh the actions of the deceased—they place in one side the ostrich feather, and in the other the vase containing the heart; if the weight of the heart is greater than that of the ostrich feather, the scale descends, and the soul is received in the celestial courts; above this scene appear the forty-two judges of the souls seated, and having the head ornamented with the ostrich feather.” [Italics in the original; Boldface added] What is interesting about this explanation is that THIS “EGYPTIAN WITCHCRAFT” SCENE IS ACTUALLY PORTRAYED IN THE MASONIC LODGE in the 31st degree where the candidate’s actions are weighed on a balance scale. In this Masonic degree the “candidate is brought into the Court of the Dead to be judged for actions while living and to determine if he deserves to dwell among the gods.” (For picture, see chapter entitled “Winged Symbols.”) This is a teaching that is contrary to God’s Word, for we can never be saved by works. II Timothy 1:9 mentions that God “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, NOT ACCORDING TO OUR WORKS, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” In Titus we are told: “NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). The gavel is an important Masonic and Eastern Star symbol. Sarah Terry, in her Eastern Star book, The Second Mile, tells us that “in ancient times the GAVEL referred to the HAMMER OF THE GOD THOR.” Thor is another PAGAN god—a god of fertility. He is part of the Scandinavian Trinity. What is interesting is that THOR IS ANOTHER NAME FOR SIRIUS— THE BLAZING STAR OR THE PENTAGRAM!
