Just a few days ago I was looking through a “Christian” book catalog from Christian Book Distributors. I was surprised and disappointed to see a “Nativity Charm Bracelet” advertised. The descriptions reads: “Fashioned of gold-plated metal, these seven CHARMS include two wise men, two angels, a shepherd, a nativity scene, and Jesus carrying the cross.” We cannot “Christianize” pagan practices—even if we include a “Jesus” CHARM. Remember, a charmer is also called an enchanter or a magician! Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns: “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord.” In Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner a witch remarks: “Selecting and donning ritual jewelry naturally follows dressing. Many Wiccans have collections of exotic pieces with religious or magical designs. Then too amulets and talismans (devices made to ward off or to attract forces) often double as ritual jewelry.
