After Jonathan grew up, Pam and I discussed having another child, but our travel schedule, the homeschooling of Jonathan, and other responsibilities were very time consuming. In the year 2000, I returned home from a foreign trip. I was lying on our bed in the upstairs master bedroom, my eyes closed and very tired, when I literally felt what was the invisible hand of a child on my left ankle. I was so startled by it I sat up. Pam entered the room at the same time, and I told her what had happened. She asked, “What does it mean?” I said, “I sense we are supposed to have another child!” That same year Pam became pregnant, but in the month of October, while attending our main Fall Conference, she had a miscarriage at seven weeks. After this tragedy, she felt she could not emotionally or physically carry another child. We began praying, and she became pregnant in December. I told her, “You will carry this baby, and it is the little girl I saw in the dream in 1988!” Months later, by ultrasound, the child was confirmed to be a girl! However, in the seventh month, the OB-GYN saw an ultrasound and said to Pam, “Your embryonic fluid is low, and it is possible your child will have Down syndrome.” Pam returned home somewhat troubled. I encouraged her, “I saw a very healthy girl in that dream, and this child will NOT be sick and will NOT have an infirmity in the name of the Lord!” My wife followed the doctor’s orders and went on bed rest for an entire month. At eight months into the pregnancy, on August 2, 2001, the little girl I saw thirteen years before in the dream was born. We named her Amanda, as this was the name
