they would be released. There was no symbolism, simply a message with a meaning. Many years later Dad was in his early thirties when his youngest brother, Lewis Stone, was ordered to Vietnam. I can remember hearing Dad pray for Lewis, and he always had him in his heart. One night in the month of December, Dad lay down in the bedroom to sleep. As he was dozing off, he was suddenly awakened by light coming into the room through a window located on the side of the driveway. He assumed that a car was turning around, when instantly he heard a voice say, “Lie down, I want to show you something.” As he obeyed the voice, he immediately experienced a fullcolor vision. He was taken either in his mind or in the spirit to Vietnam. There he saw a group of marines digging a trench for the evening. In front of them was a field with tall grass. At the edge of the field were several trees. Dad saw three serpents crawling on the ground with rifles strapped to their backs; two had knives in their mouths. They were slowly crawling toward the marines, and Dad knew this was an unseen ambush. Dad marked the surroundings and suddenly came out of the vision with his heart pounding. Not knowing what to do with the information, he sat down and penned a letter to Lewis, giving him the details of the planned ambush, including the site information, the three trees, and all other details he could remember. Dad sent the letter, praying that God would allow Lewis to get it in time. Many weeks later Dad heard back from Lewis, and the opening words were, “Fred…your dream was a true one…” He went on to describe the day they were digging in, how an ambush was set,
