How to Interpret Dreams and Visions Perry Stone
The revelation the Holy Spirit brings forth involves situations occurring now or in the future. At times you enter a season where you are uncertain of the will of God or of how to handle a difficult circumstance. Wisdom can be given by a revelation through the gift of the word of wisdom or the word of knowledge (1 Cor. 12:8). When a believer needs a word of encouragement or comfort, a prophetic word for “edification and exhortation and comfort” can be received—sometimes through preaching, or through a song, or through an individual (1 Cor. 14:3). Believers should never seek the counterfeit methods of men working through familiar spirits but must look to the Word of God and the operation of the Holy Spirit for insight into God’s will and purpose. Throughout the New Testament, warnings were given in advance to prepare believers for what was coming. A prophet named Agabus warned the church that a severe drought was coming and the saints should prepare to send relief to those in need (Acts 11:28– 29). The same man revealed by the Holy Spirit that if Paul went to the temple in Jerusalem, he would be arrested and delivered into the hands of the Gentiles (Acts 21:10–12). On another occasion Paul was being sent by ship to Rome. He was warned in his spirit that if the ship loosed from the dock, there would be severe consequences (Acts 27:9–10). Later the ship hit a storm, and the lives of the entire crew were in danger. After fourteen days of no sun or stars, Paul received a vision of an angel that predicted the ship would be torn apart, but the entire crew of 276 men would survive the shipwreck (vv. 22–44).
