State of Washington and the STATE of WASHINGTON The preamble of the 1889 CONSTITUTION of the STATE of WASHINGTON begins: ―We, the people of the State of Washington …‖ ―The people‖ thereby acknowledged that they were already subjects of the State of Washington, and under the 1878 Constitution of the State of Washington. The purpose of the 1889 CONSTITUTION of the STATE of WASHINGTON was to create a corporation to rule over subjects and that could interact with the foreign-owned UNITED STATES.

The State of Washington was admitted into the Union as a Republic , under the original 1878 Constitution .
