taking the fight out of the fighters! The fight of which I speak is the desire to defend yourself or to resist an oncoming assault. I immediately understood these words. If you as a believer cease from fighting the “good fight of faith” (1 Tim. 6:12), then the enemy wins by default —meaning you fail because you did not do what was required to defend yourself. All you must do to lose any spiritual battle is to simply do nothing . This is the way Satan is defeating many youth in this generation, by dulling and weakening their ability to fight the fight by medicating or making mellow the fighting nature and dulling it through addictions, just as the Turks were so “high” they couldn’t fight the British. One of the greatest battles of contemporary society is the battle of addictions, including addictions to alcohol, strong drink, and illegal drugs such as marijuana, heroin, crack cocaine, and other narcotics that raise you high then drop you low, eventually dulling the senses, numbing the mind and blurring reality. During many years of ministry I have personally met and ministered to thousands of all ages who have become chained, like Harry Houdini, to a bondage that is not just an illusion —but very real. However, just like with the master illusionists, things are not always what they seem to be. You and I see a person under a chain of bondage, an addiction, a spiritual or mental captivity. But what we see is only the fruit and not the root of the problem. The root is often an emotional wound, a broken relationship, a wounded heart and spirit, and, in some instances, guilt,
