The third mind gift—discerning of spirits— not only includes a gift to detect evil and unclean spirits, but it can also discern the spirit of a person and look into the real motives and hidden attitudes of the heart. These gifts are designed to assist believers when dealing with difficult situations, difficult people, and the powers of the enemy at work through people and circumstances. They are also effective when ministering to individuals who need a supernatural breakthrough.
