Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. —C OLOSSIANS 2:14–15 While it is true that these types of spirits rule from the heavenly realm and that Satan is the prince of the power of the air (Eph. 2:2), it is also true that the throne of God sits far above these spirits in the third heaven (2 Cor. 12:2). Christ today is seated “far above all principality and power” (Eph. 1:20–21). When we pray to God, it is not necessary to get in a plane and go up thirty-five thousand feet to be closer to the enemy’s heavenly headquarters! David taught that a person can never escape God’s presence: if he ascended into heaven, God was there; if he made his bed in hell, God was even there. The Lord dwells in the sea, on the mountains, and covers the entire earth (Ps. 139:7–10). If God, who sits high above all demonic powers, can hear your prayer on earth, then Satan can hear your rebuke on earth! One man said he was flying with a prayer team and commanding the prince spirits to “come down from their high places, and be cast to the earth!” I thought, “Who does he think he is, Michael the archangel?” That is the job of Michael in the middle of the Great Tribulation, when he wars against Satan and his angels and casts them to the earth (Rev. 12:7–
