Years ago I was ministering in a large church, and Pam and I both noticed the women on staff all wore short skirts and rather low-cut dresses. I warned the pastor’s wife that she should take control of the appearance of the women, as it would eventually cause her husband to be tempted. My suggestion was blown off, and today the couple is separated and the husband has fallen into sexual sin. A man may act super spiritual, as though a seductive woman has no influence over him, but I would suggest, “Why bring a temptation upon yourself or fight a continual mental battle by having the wrong type of people working in or around you?” The power of temptation is too common and too strong in our addiction-seductive culture. Don’t set yourself up to fellowship with your old drug partners who still sell dope or to eat in restaurants with your old drinking buddies who still take a toddy for the body and where underdressed females prance around like show dogs at a contest. It is far simpler to prevent a temptation by controlling the circumstances from occurring than to fight a temptation with the circumstances you have permitted. Satan is the tempter, and we can be given a way of escape—if we are willing to take it. It is better to preempt the
