ability to organize and arrange the facts, and wisdom is knowing how to apply those facts. I have often stated that college can give you knowledge, but it is God who gives true wisdom. When a decision is based upon proper knowledge, then a good choice can be made, which usually ends with a positive result. If, however, a decision is based upon how we feel at the moment or purely upon emotion, then this can lead to future difficulty and confusion. I can recall that when I was about sixteen years of age, I became close friends with a young girl in my dad’s church. If I recall, she was about fourteen years of age but mentally and spiritually mature for her age. I remember buying a ring and giving it to her. I sat down with her father and told him my intended plans were marriage. I may not remember much about those days, but I do remember that he didn’t smile or laugh. Now that I have children, I know what he was thinking: Where would I work? How much income would I bring in? Where would I live? And so forth. I did have a car, and that was a start! In my immaturity the idea was based upon emotion, not upon wisdom. Six years later I met my soul mate and the woman who is, to this day, my girlfriend—Pam, my wife of more than thirty years. My decision to marry was not based upon emotion but upon revelation and information. Having met her during a four-week revival in Northport, Alabama, I knew by revelation of the voice of the Holy Spirit that I was to marry Pam, and I also had spent ample time weighing the cost of marriage, such as where
