the wife—each individually on the same day. He asked the husband why Satan had “filled your heart to lie to Holy Spirit” (v. 3). The result of this money-laundering conspiracy was that both Ananias and Sapphira came under the judgment of the Almighty and lost their lives. Notice that Peter and Judas were disciples, and Ananias and Sapphira were members of the Jerusalem church. None of these individuals were possessed of the devil. However, in all three instances Satan is credited with giving the thoughts and actions to the individuals. These examples reveal the possibility of certain thoughts, which are contrary to the Word and will of God, actually being shot into the minds of believers by Satan and his invisible forces. This possibility is why Paul wrote, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor. 2:11). Satan’s greatest device is fiery darts that are sent into the mind in the form of wrong thoughts (Eph. 6:16), creating confusion, division, and temptation. T HE M IND I S A B ATTLEFIELD The mind becomes a battlefield. Most choices we make are based either upon information or emotion. The Book of Proverbs is a biblical book of wisdom nuggets, the majority penned by Solomon who was noted for his gift of wisdom (1 Kings 3:28). In Proverbs there are three prominent words: knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. By definition, knowledge is the accumulation of facts. Understanding is the
