Exposing Satan's Playbook The Perry Stone
David (1 Sam. 15:28; 16:1–13). • Saul was rejected for not obeying God and destroying the Amalekites (1 Sam. 15:1–28). A familiar spirit is a demonic spirit that has become familiar with the people, places, and events that have occurred in a specific location. These types of demonic spirits desire to remain in the area of the country where they originated or where they have controlled individuals throughout the history in that region. For example, when Christ expelled the demons from the man in the tombs, the spirits requested that Christ not send them out of the country (Mark 5:10). Spirits become comfortable with their familiar surroundings. Christ told of an unclean spirit going out of a man, seeking rest, and finding none. The spirit then attempts to return to the person or the original location. If he can, he then invites seven other spirits, more wicked than himself, to join him in an attempt to live in and control his former house (Matt. 12:43–45). Alleged contact with the dead is called necromancy . This was practiced among the heathen nations and empires of antiquity, but it was forbidden by the Lord in the Law: Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the L ORD your God. —L EVITICUS 19:31
