comparison, yet former drug addicts who are now under the control of the Holy Spirit certainly understand the need of a divine replacement feeling for the false feeling offered by man made chemicals and drugs. What if somehow every person in America who was addicted to drugs or alcohol and living their lives for a dangerous pleasure could fully comprehend that their deliverance was possible through Christ and that the emotional highs could be replaced with true righteousness, peace, and joy? How would the knowledge that their Creator was more than a steeple on a church and a robed choir, but a powerful deity whose presence could be experienced change their perception of Christianity? As long as the adversary can bind a sinner to the desire of pleasure for a season, he has maintained a most powerful spiritual weapon to keep that sinner in a personal prison. The lust for another high, another buzz, another mellowed-out feeling will keep the victim under the dominion of darkness. Once, however, the eyes of understanding are opened and the same person is permitted to taste of the power of the world to come, there is a flame of hope that will ignite in the heart and eventually burn the fetters off his soul and bring him into not just a mental agreement with Scripture, but also into an experience of freedom that can be felt. The process begins by simply believing the promises and determining to turn from your captivity and ask God for His delivering power for your life.
