Years ago, on two different occasions in two different states, I was speaking with businessmen who were former cocaine addicts. Both had a serious habit that had cost them thousands of dollars each week. I am thankful to say I never took any form of drugs and can serve as an example to demonstrate that a teenager can serve God and never fall prey to alcohol or drug addictions. I asked these men what it was like on cocaine and why it was so addictive. I then asked them what the key was to remaining free from such a powerful, addictive substance. I was stunned that they both gave me the identical same response, and I have heard the same answer given by former addicts on numerous occasions. They both said that the drug ignited the pleasure part of the brain, and this was why it was so addictive. Then here was the part that stunned me. They both said that when they were converted to Christ, the moment they were baptized in the Holy Spirit and received the prayer language of the Spirit, they felt the exact same energy and force in their body that they experienced when they were high on the drug! In fact, both said that the feeling brought upon them upon receiving the power of the Holy Spirit was actually greater in measure than any high they experienced on any form of drug. Both men said the following: “I believe that this type of drug is a counterfeit to the power of the Holy Spirit. Satan came up with something to keep people high so they would never know the freedom in Christ and the power that is in the Holy Spirit!” I don’t expect the average Christian to understand their
