kiss our companion with an accompanying “I love you,” and attend our favorite sports event and yell until we are hoarse. We become angry when receiving an unexpected bill in the mail and rejoice when an unexpected check arrives. Then we walk into a sanctuary and in the name of reverence sit silently like a group of adults would sit at a funeral. I remind people that reverence is not deadness , and in heaven God is not frightened by verbal praise, because His created angelic beings worship Him day and night (Rev. 4:8). Check out this following series of comments. A minister was once rebuked by a person who criticized the music and worship of the youth in a church, asserting that, “God is not deaf!” The minister reminded this person, “Neither is God nervous. Based on the Psalms, He seemed to enjoy hearing His people praise Him on musical instruments.” The complaining person countered by saying, “Those who praised Him with music verses can only be found in the Old Testament.” The minister rebutted by saying, “The last time I read the Psalms, it was still a part of the Bible, and we are told in the New Testament that ‘ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable’” (2 Tim. 3:16). The final argument was, “I’ve read the entire Bible, and nowhere in the Bible did Jesus ever shout, cry aloud, and jump up and down.” The minister replied, “You are right,” to which a smile of delight broke across a face that had not smiled the entire time. He said, “You agree?”, and the response was, “Certainly. But
