was made known, the adversary immediately went after the sons of mankind, especially the oldest sons. Eve conceived two sons, Cain was the oldest, and Abel was the youngest. In a fit of jealousy over an offering, Cain slew his brother and became the first murderer. With Abel dead and Cain marked by God, Satan thought he secured a defeat. However, Seth replaced Abel as the third son of Adam and carried on a righteous lineage through his descendants (Gen. 4:25). Generations later Isaac had twin sons—Esau, the eldest, and Jacob, the youngest. The oldest sold his birthright and lost his blessing to the youngest (Gen. 25; 27:36). Jacob would enlarge the family with twelve sons. Reuben, being the firstborn, would normally be given the rights of the family blessings and birthrights. However, Reuben lost his birthright after he defiled his father’s bed by sleeping with his father’s concubine (Gen. 49:3–4). From Eden to the time when the enemy sought to slay Christ after His birth, the devil knew the prophetic scriptures and knew a future person was assigned to bruise his head! H E K NOWS THE R EVEALED P ROPHETIC S CRIPTURES A BOUT H IMSELF The first predicted defeat of the old serpent, the devil, is found in Genesis 3:15. The second major prediction came through Isaiah the prophet in Isaiah 14, where the doom of Lucifer is revealed. Isaiah predicted that he would be: “Brought down to . . . the lowest depths of the Pit” (Isa. 14:15). This information was passed down for hundreds of years and was known in the
