The 2004 team became the second team in NFL history to appear in and win three Super Bowls in a four-year span. The 2007 season was considered by football fans the greatest season for any team in the history of the NFL since the time when the season was expanded from fourteen games to sixteen games in 1978. The Patriots brought home eighteen straight wins in the season and set or tied sixteen NFL records.3 A win at the 2007 Super Bowl would have catapulted them to a level no other NFL team had ever experienced.
