After building the most fabulous temple perhaps in history, amassing wealth, and experiencing fame and prosperity, Solomon came to the end of his life with an astonishing statement: “All is vanity.” He realized all of his wealth would be left for his son, and not even Solomon knew what type of character he would have (Eccles. 2:19). We could sum up Solomon’s attitude by saying, “Enjoy every moment of your life, because you won’t take your possessions with you.” God has a covenant of blessing for those who follow His precepts. However, keep in mind that there are many things more important than amassing land, gold, and silver.
