Israel has used human wisdom on numerous occasions during previous wars. During a battle in Israel in the 1940s, an Arab army controlled a town. Armed with one cannon and two small live shells, the Jewish leader noticed a truck carrying metal pipes that had wrecked. There were also a number of wheels from old wagons lying nearby. An Israeli had an idea to create fake cannons. He and several others built several fake cannons and at night placed them around the city. The only real cannon was put on a hill overlooking the town. In the morning the Jewish man called the Arab leader inside the city, threatening to attack the town if he did not surrender it. The Arab replied, “You Jews don’t have any weapons.” The man ordered the first of the only two missiles they had to be fired, which hit the wall. The Arab leader looked over the wall and saw numerous cannons, not realizing they were fake ones. He surrendered the city!2 On another occasion, the Egyptian navy sent a large warship toward Israel’s city of Haifa. The Jews had no naval ships but possessed an empty shell of a ship docked in the port. They concocted the idea of creating fake papier-maché missiles and guns on the ship’s deck and painting the ship as a decoy to intercept the Egyptian vessel. By the time the Egyptian ship arrived, they saw an unexpected sight—the Israelis had a ship with large missiles! A group of Israeli soldiers intercepted the Egyptians in a small boat, demanding the captain surrender or be “blown out of the water” by Israel’s new ship. The
