1. Heartfelt prayer, weeping, and intercession will get the attention of the Lord. Intercession changes circumstances, circumstances transform people, and people change nations. Abraham interceded for Lot, and his nephew was rescued from the destruction of Sodom (Gen. 18). After Israel worshiped the golden calf, God planned to destroy the Hebrews and allow Moses to father a new nation. Moses interceded, and God changed His mind, preserving Israel in the wilderness (Exod. 32). Aaron stood between the living and the dead making intercession, and God stopped a deadly plague from slaying the Israelites (Num. 16:48). If you desire a child, do not just pray passively, “Lord, help me have a baby.” Spend time alone in prayer, and allow your heart to be laid open before God in deep intercession. Your tears of travail will turn into tears of joy when you hear the cries of your newborn. 2. There is power in a vow to dedicate a child completely to the Lord. The Almighty chose Abraham, knowing he would instruct his children in righteousness (Gen. 18:19). Noah was set apart because God knew that Noah’s three sons would follow God and eventually repopulate the earth (Gen. 9:1). At times, God desires a person to “stand in a gap,” filling a spiritual void (Ezek. 22:30). Parents’ willingness to teach, train, and raise their children in the admonition of the Lord brings great joy to the heavenly Father. God is not preventing the birth of children, as most infertility is considered a biological or medical cause hindering conception. He is, however, moved to open the
