Breaking The Jewish Code Perry Stone
youngest of Ham’s four sons (Gen. 10:6). When Noah cursed Canaan, why didn’t he also place a curse on Ham’s other three sons? The answer is that Canaan may have actually sinned with Noah while he was drunk. We do know that Canaan settled in the Promised Land prior to Abraham’s arrival and was the father of numerous tribes who also lived in that region. The point is that Ham was never cursed, because Ham was blessed by God! Canaan, however, placed a terrible curse on his descendants because of the sin he committed and the curse he lived under. The actions of parents can have an impact upon future generations. Preserving Your Name Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.” Solomon wrote, “A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of one’s birth” (Eccles. 7:1). Your character, words, actions, work ethic, and treatment of others all impact your name. When I hear the name Judas , I think of a traitor. The name Korah brings to mind rebellion, and the name Jezebel paints an image of a self-serving, controlling woman. By guarding your words and actions, you can protect a good name. By giving your child a meaningful name, you can help point them to a future destiny filled with expectation and excitement. ■ ■ ■ ✡ ■ ■ ■
