In some way, the conscious mind gains control over the spirit so that the person can use their spirit to "look" into the spirit world and communicate with spirits in the spirit world. Remember, our physical bodies cannot "see" or com municate with the invisible spirit realm in any way. This communication must come through our spirits. We cannot normally communicate with the spirit world. This linking together of soul and spirit was lost at the fall. The three techniques mentioned are used by occultists the world around to establish such control over their spirits. It is interesting that once a person comes to Jesus Christ out of the occult, they do not lose this ability until they specifi cally ask the Lord to sever between their soul and spirit ac cording to Hebrews 4:12. Also, with those that do not come to Christ, on very rare occasions, I have asked the Lord to sever between their soul and spirit. When the Lord grants my request the person instantly loses their ability to com municate with the spirit world. Clearly, it is NOT the Lord’s will for His people to have this control over their spirits. Our spirits are to be directly under the control of the Holy Spirit, NOT our minds. This is the basic difference between the occult and Chris tianity. Occultists control their contact with the spirit world, and they control to a large extent the power they use. Chris tians, on the other hand, are never in contact with the spirit world except on the brief occasions the Holy Spirit allows such contact, and Christians do NOT control the power of their God in anyway. Christians are servants, nothing more. The Lord works through his servants as HE chooses, not as they choose. Demons cooperate with humans to give them power when the people want it to draw them ever farther away from the Lord.
