Becoming A Vessel Of Honor Rebecca Brown
158 and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." II Corinthians 6:14-18
This passage was addressed to the Christians at Corinth, so obviously some of them were already unequally yoked. Paul was telling them to clean up their lives. Therefore, this scripture cannot be used as a proof text that Christians can not have demons. Just the opposite. Paul goes on in chap ter 7 to write:
"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." II Corinthians 7:1
"...And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work." II Timothy 2:19-21 We MUST purge our vessels and cleanse God’s temple — US. Clearly, the Spirit of God AND demons dwelt within the same temple at the same time in the Old Testament. Clearly, scripture warns us about defiling the temple of God, us. Over and over again, we are exhorted to CLEANSE ourselves! The rest of this book has been writ ten to help you obey God’s word and cleanse yourself. Are YOU willing to allow a condition of defilement to exist in you?
