Becoming A Vessel Of Honor Rebecca Brown

126 Have you ever stopped to wonder why scripture has so much in it commanding us to stop sinning? Well, for one thing, God is completely holy and just. He cannot allow sin to remain. That is why Jesus died on the cross —to pay the price for our sins so that God would not have to give us the just punishment and destruction we deserve for our sins. The ultimate punishment for sin is to be banished from God’s presence forever. However, too many people fall into the trap of thinking that once we are saved our sins are not so important. Paul ad dressed this issue very plainly:

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1-2

The real reason why it is so important for us to put sin out of our lives is because sin separates us from God. Do you want more abundance in your life? Then put sin OUT of your life!

"Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and ex hort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more." I Thessalonians 4:1 "For it is the will of God, even your sanctification [to be set apart for God, to separate from sin and the world] that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel [you] in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupis cence [personal desires], even as the Gentiles which know not God." I Thessalonians 4:3-5

Scripture is clear. The ONLY way to have a close relation ship with God and to live a life of abundance in Christ Jesus, is to STOP SINNING!
