Modern teachers emphasize that the countries of the final 10 kings will comprise the European Union (EU) nations, but this cannot be totally accurate. In Nebuchadnezzar's dream, five kings are from the Eastern branch (leg) and five from the Western branch (leg). Most of the current EU nations are Western powers; yet, Egypt, Libya and Ethiopia are not in the EU, but are listed as three of the 10 final kings of Biblical prophecy. In the past, these three Islamic nations were pro Western, and Ethiopia was a strong Christian nation. Presently, all three nations have a strong radical Islamic element that is attempting to turn their nation against Israel and the West. As we will point out, the real key to understanding Biblical teaching relating to the kingdom of the Beast is to understand how Islamic radicals are corrupting certain Islamic teachings for their own benefit.
