that whether on an individual or national scale, human nature too often requires tragedy in order to awaken people to reality. A false sense of security can be lethal to a nation and to a person. So many are procrastinators by nature and never do what should have been done until crisis dictates that it must. Those with a tendency to postpone are typically motivated solely by crisis and calamity. Unfortunately, these prerequisite emergencies often result in death— sometimes spiritual, many times literal. When it comes to spiritual matters, some hard-headed individuals continue to tread the rebellious path even in the face of tribulation To some degree, America has changed for the better since September 2001. Yet, it is distressing to see that mainstream America has once again reverted to a false sense of security. The typical American is not overly concerned about the threats that face us around the world. We don't travel abroad as much and we tend to be a bit more anxious about flying, but for the most part, life has not changed that much in America. Once again, our luxuries have successfully seduced us into thinking that 9-11 was an isolated event. Despite the government's attempt to keep everyone on their toes, most Americans have been deluded into thinking that we are relatively safe from enemies abroad and from within. Therefore, it seems that it is only a matter of time before, once again, some type of national disaster strikes. One good thing that can be said about adversity is that it typically unites people for a common good. Furthermore, in America's history, adversity has almost always caused
