where John saw a rider on a white horse. Scripture indicates this white horse rider will receive a crown, and power to conquer. Each time I read this I am reminded that all United Nations (U.N.) vehicles throughout the world are white in color. The United Nations is offering Israel and the Palestinians the opportunity to guard the roads and checkpoints in Israel. At this time, Israel has rejected the offer. The United Nations has power to place economic and military sanctions on entire nations (Iraq is an example). The white horse rider could symbolically allude to the power of a U.N. leader who will emphasize peace and yet, use his authority to conquer (control) nations. The Greek word for conquer in Revelation 6:2, means to subdue. This person will be a part of the seventh kingdom of prophecy that will continue for a brief time (Revelation 17:10, 11). H OW P EACE C AN D ESTROY Destruction under the guise of peace was visible in Afghanistan. As long as the Afghans observed the strict laws of the Taliban, they were unharmed. If any person resisted or disagreed with even one small point of Taliban rule, they were met with swift "Islamic" justice. Crowds gathered in stadiums to watch people be shot, hung or have their hands amputated for such "evils" as having a television, owning a VCR, or stealing to feed their starving children, or a woman who exposed her face in public.
