the early stages of a fulfillment of prophecy in Psalms 102:16, stating that "When the Lord shall build up Zion, then he shall appear in his glory." Since 1967, the Palestinians have fought an internal battle for total control of Jerusalem. They see Israel as an invader, and America as a supporter of the infidel Jews. The terror attacks from inside Israel are meant to build opposition against Israel as the great oppressor of the Palestinians. The Palestinians claim they were there first and the Jews are illegally occupying Palestine. Yet, a travel guide to Palestine published in 1906 by Karl Beadeker states the population of Jerusalem at 60,000, of whom 7,000 were Muslims, 13,000 were Christians, and 40,000 were Jews. This survey was made when the Islamic Ottoman Empire (Turkey) was ruling! Prior to the formation of Israel in 1948, the Arab and Turkish Muslims got along quite well with the Jews living in Palestine. It was the formation of Israel in 1948 that changed the atmosphere. The re-establishment of Israel brought fear to the Muslim world, and the reunification of Jerusalem brought anger. Since 1948, Israel and Jerusalem have become centerpieces of controversy. Since Muslims do not believe the Jewish Temples of King Solomon and King Herod ever sat on the Temple Mount, "The Night Journey" story tells them that they alone should control the holy mountain of Mohammed. The controversy of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount will be the flame that ignites a fiery conflict inside Israel. The one group that demands the departure of the Jews
