Understanding the Purpose and Power of Men
don‘t instruct your son in what it means to be a real man by teaching him how to drink or play ball. It takes a man to teach a boy the Word of God, to instruct him in the values and principles of life that will live on after the game is over. Abraham was a man who took his responsibility as the head of the home seriously. And the Lord said, ―I know A b raham.‖ I wonder— does God know you? Can He say about you, ―I know that you will teach your family the Wo rd of God‖? If you want God to consider you His friend, then become a teacher in your home. You have to be full of the Word in order to give it to your family. There are many, many men who still don‘t understand and appreciate the value of the Word of God for the fulfillment of their purpose. Many men just drop their wives off at church and send their children to Sunday school because they don‘t want to be responsible for their spiritual training. Abraham knew the Word, and he taught it. And God said, ―I will not hide any thing from Abraham.‖ Wouldn‘t you like to be the kind of man to whom God says, ―I‘m going to tell you My s e crets‖? A man who instructs his household in the Scriptures attracts God. No matter how much you pray and go to church and sing hym ns, if you don‘t teach your household God‘s ways, if you don‘t give the Word of God prominence in your home by making it your guide for living, then God sees you as a weak man. Do you know there are preachers who can preach you
out of your seat, but who can‘t sit civilly with their wives at the dinner table? God is not in terested in their preaching as much as in how they conduct themselves in their homes. Some people teach great theological discourses, and they can impress you with their head know
