Your first action must be to determine if what you are experiencing is being initiated or agitated by a spirit. If so, there will often be a terrible, cold, and dark presence that can be felt consistently in the home or the dwelling place, as evil spirits create a sense of dread, depression, and fear. I have suggested for families to take anointing oil and walk through every room, dedicating the house and each room to Christ and anointing the posts of the door and speaking blessing, favor, and God’s protection over the house. I have also on numerous occasions used a method of “confessing the blood of Christ” over hotel rooms where I have stayed during conferences. Many different types of individuals travel and use hotel lodgings, and you are unaware of who has been sleeping in the bed prior to your arrival. On one occasion in West Virginia, for three nights in a row I was awakened by some type of spirit pulling the cover off, shaking the bed, and even pressing up against my back. All three times when I rebuked it, the invisible entity departed. However, I finally stood in the room and confessed in faith that Christ’s blood and His Word was my hedge when I was in the room, and no spirit that was not of God was permitted in the room from that point on. In each case this method of resisting and rebuking spirits was successful. Each time when this has occurred, I am reminded of the promises in Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” To maintain a victorious life, refuse to think or act in the manner that your unconverted family members did that opened the door to spiritual powers and family conflicts.
