are allegedly the most desirable to make contact with. From both the Old and New Testaments it is clear that attempting to consult the dead to reveal the future is forbidden and was a weird custom among the early heathen nations (Deut. 18:9–12). The New Testament is clear that when a sinner or a believer passes from this life, there are two specific and opposite locations where the souls and spirits travel and remain until the resurrection and the final judgment. The sinner is carried into a lower chamber in the earth called hell (Luke 16:23), and the believer is taken to the third heaven to paradise (2 Cor. 12:1–4). Any form of ancestor spirit that would appear and receive worship is a seducing spirit (1 Tim. 4:1), or a spirit of deception, and is considered a manifestation of a familiar spirit (Lev. 20:27; 1 Sam. 28). One of the most bizarre stories illustrating how a familiar spirit remains in a specific region was related to me by my father, Fred Stone. On this day in the early 1950s Dad was watching several of the smaller children of his family at the family home. Later in the day he began to hear voices coming from a room that was on the side (like an attic), which always remained locked. As the voices became louder, profanity, including cursing God’s name, came from the room. The voice sounded like his granddad Stone, and my dad thought Granddad had become drunk with another fellow and had gone to the room and was still under the influence. Dad finally rebuked them out loud from where he was standing (outside the door) in the name of Jesus. Suddenly the voices were silent. Shortly thereafter family members returned to the house, and
