Chapter 2 INHERITING YOUR ANCESTORS’ DEMONS

G OD THINKS AND PLANS IN A GENERATIONAL MANNER , keeping His promises for a thousand generations (Ps. 105:8). Divine favor and covenant promises can be transferred from father to son. Take the example of our spiritual father Abraham. The Almighty made a covenant with Abraham, promising him a son and a future nation (Gen. 15:4–7). At age one hundred, Abraham saw his son Isaac born through his ninety-year-old wife, Sarah. Isaac’s wife conceived twins (Jacob and Esau), and Jacob later fathered twelve sons, who themselves became identified as the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel. When Jacob went to Egypt as an older patriarch, there were “seventy souls” that came from him (Exod. 1:5, KJV ). However, four hundred years later, sixhundred thousand men of war departed with their wives and children from Egypt (Exod. 12:37).
