1. D AVID TURNED HIS CRISIS OVER TO THE L ORD . To whom would David turn for a sudden rescue from this mass death threat? The priests and Samuel were dead, his family was in Judah, and he was a stranger in the Philistines’ stronghold, with sixhundred of his closest associates planning on killing him. When David had nowhere else to turn to, he turned his face toward God. At times you may think you are waiting on heaven to move, but in reality, heaven is waiting on earth! 2. D AVID KNEW G OD WAS NOT FINISHED WITH HIM YET . If David had really wanted to die and had lost all hope of his future, he would have yelled out, “Someone throw the first rock!” By consulting God, David knew the Lord wasn’t finished with him yet. It is impossible to threaten to kill a man who has a divine assignment! Jonah came up from the bottom of the sea in the first “submarine ride” in a whale’s belly and was preserved supernaturally because God had an assignment for Jonah yet to fulfill. Paul was stoned in Lystra, yet he arose after the disciples prayed and departed for his next mission trip because God had more places for Paul to minister (Acts 14). Even when he was bitten by a deadly viper and should have perished in minutes, the snake bite was harmless, as Paul’s assignment was to win the island where he was shipwrecked to Christ. (See Acts 28.) You must believe that God has a plan and He is not finished with you yet! 3. D AVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE L ORD HIS G OD . Notice David did not encourage himself in his warring
