choices become a sword that turns on us, and we are wounded by self-inflicted cuts from our own decisions. When your vessel is broken, you will tend to withdraw and pull yourself away from other vessels that seem flawless and have never cracked under pressure. However, cracks in the vessel are opportunities for grace and mercy to take you dancing! DANCING WITH MERCY AND GRACE You can rejoice and dance with broken bones because mercy and grace are your dancing partners. Mercy whispers, “The master is waiting for you to meet Him in the secret place again. He has missed you.” Grace begins to reach down and pick you up, promising, “Come on; I can place you in His arms again.” The mercy of God and the grace of God make you worthy to rejoice, even after you have failed. Forgiveness is more than an act—it is a fact. I have often said that we really do not understand the length and breadth of God’s mercy and forgiveness. If we were in charge of humanity, Noah’s life after the Flood would have been expunged from the biblical record for planting a vineyard and getting drunk and lying around naked (Gen. 9:21). The next narrative would be to remove Lot, the father who today could have been arrested for having relations with his own daughters (Gen. 19:31–38).
