2. “Am I in obedience to the Lord and in His will, or is God getting my attention for a transition I must prepare for?” Trouble is not a sign of God’s disfavor, as trouble is a part of life. However, it should cause us to get alone with God and seek His help. In my first twenty-five-thousand-square-foot office building (which is still operative) I placed a prayer room in the front for prayer for the needs of people. After several years we ran out of space, and I chose to turn the room into a regular office with a phone secretary. Immediately following my actions, for forty five days I saw the worst drop in phone orders in the ministry history. It seemed that for hours no one called and ordered any resource material. I became concerned and went to prayer, as we depend upon sales to maintain the VOE ministry in 249 nations. The Lord revealed to me, “Your ministry was built on prayer, and you displeased Me when you removed the prayer room for an office.” I responded by turning the room back into the prayer room, where today a sister in the Lord spends the day praying for the needs of the people who call in! The favor departed as a sign to get my attention to an act of disobedience, but it returned when I followed through with the instruction from the Holy Spirit. For a church and ministry, part of your favor in a community comes from the perception of your ministry within the community. Your personal integrity is part of the shield that makes up your local favor with men and women. By protecting your integrity, you also protect that level of favor. Favor with God comes through obedience to God and His Word. Every believer can enjoy the shield of
