The man went behind the counter and said, “Wait a minute,” then returned with five free upgrades for the group at no additional charge. This may seem small, but to five worn-out missionaries it was a much needed refreshing. This was Christian favor in a Hindu nation! I believe this shield of favor is not only for protection, but also just as the Romans had two shields—one for war and one that was more for beauty—this shield follows with you to open up doors of opportunity that are closed. Faith is not just used in time of a spiritual battle, but faith must also be used on a practical level: believing for a job, believing for income to pay the bills, and believing for good reports and help in practical life situations. There will be times when someone will come to your aid and assistance and will have no explanation as to why he or she helped you—but you will know within yourself, “I am surrounded with the armor of favor.” BUILDING UP YOUR FAVOR ACCOUNT Scripture speaks of believers having an “account” in heaven. When Paul received an offering from the church at Philippi, he wrote, “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account” (Phil. 4:17).
