dangerous parts of the city. These were economically poor areas where specific gangs had marked their turf, and anyone attempting to cross their line was dealt with severely, either through a beating, a drive-by shooting, or an unwanted and unexpected gang attack, often resulting in death. This was one of those times that a ministry police escort was not the way in which to bring the gospel to these inner-city youth. As she began to pray for an open door, she began asking God for favor. God gave her a creative idea that began opening amazing doors in the housing projects. During a very strange turn of events one of the head gang leaders informed her that he was going to serve as her personal bodyguard and that no one in any gang would lay a hand on her. This gang leader actually demanded his followers to help set up the outdoor outreaches and attend the meetings! This was the shield of favor in action. God favored her with protection from the very people who were the most dangerous by giving her favor among enemies. In the Book of Daniel there were two very dangerous situations that posed threats for Daniel and his Jewish companions. One was when three Hebrew men refused to bow before the king’s idol and were cast into a furnace (perhaps the one used to mold the image the king had made to worship) that was heated seven times hotter. (See Daniel 3.) The second narrative was when a den of hungry lions was chomping at the bit for dinner, and Daniel was cast into the den to become the night meal, with his enemies expecting to see lions licking Daniel’s bones the following morning. (See Daniel 6.) Daniel escaped without a scratch on his body, and the Hebrew boys came out of the flames without so much as the smell of smoke
