On this occasion my friend went to the front desk to pay the room charge and check us out while I packed in the room. About fifteen minutes later he came bursting into the room and was praying out loud! I asked, “What happened to you?” “After paying the bill, I turned to come upstairs and a beautiful woman met me and said, ‘Hey American, I can show you a good time,’” he said. “I felt righteous indignation and began to scream back at her, ‘Bathsheba, get away from me. You lying devil, get away in Jesus’’ name!’” He said the woman left quickly, running through the lobby and outside, and he got up here as fast as possible! His reaction reminded me of Joseph when Potiphar’s wife attempted to seduce him and he ran out of the palace as fast as possible (Gen. 39:10–13). He had been totally unwarned of what was about to occur but was not unprepared, as his armor went up immediately and his breastplate of righteousness protected him from the smooth words of a harlot. There have been some ministers and church members who thought, “I am away from people who know me, and no one will ever find out what I’m doing.” This type of thinking will cause you to strip off your protective God gear and become open to terrible assaults of the enemy. One of my close missionary friends was with a minister who pastored in the morally wicked city of Amsterdam. One night he was passing out tracts with his church members—all former prostitutes and drug addicts— in a very hard-core, red-light district. They did this as a team and held one another accountable, as all these had come out of this lifestyle and had been won to Christ through personal witnessing.
