desire —a zeal to win the war and move on to the next level of victory. Years ago the adversary made an attempt to take the life of someone I love very dearly. While watching this person lying on a bed in the emergency room, I knew this was one of the strongest missiles ever sent in my direction, and it took a large shield of faith to cover my spiritual man and defend me from the lying arrows being thrust at my mind. I had to rebuke the spirit of death, the spirit of destruction, and numerous other spiritual entities (Eph. 6:12) that were attempting to cling to my mind and soul and defeat my faith for the life of my beloved friend. I could hear all types of voices trying to plant negative thoughts in my spirit. At that moment I was in a trial, surrounded by fire (1 Pet. 1:7), and my helmet, breastplate, shield, and even my sword were being tested in the heat of a sudden and unexpected missile strike from the adversary. However, another fire rose up in me, and the zeal of the Lord began to burn hot embers of faith inside me like a hot tornado forming out of my inner man. I spoke out loud to the unseen yet very real spiritual enemy behind this assault. I said, “You think you have intimidated me and my friend, but I am going to retaliate against what you have done, and you will regret this as long as I live.” At the time I knew my intention but not my mission to fulfill this statement. However, from that night of trial and after walking through the valley of the shadow of death, a vision came out of the fire with a challenge to raise up a youth ministry and minister to hurting teens, college-age singles, and young adults, bringing deliverance to them through the power of the
