N OT RECEIVING A FRESH ANOINTING IN A NEW BATTLE Every new conflict needs a fresh anointing. When the methods and strategies against you change, then the level of anointing for battle must change. David’s progression of battles began with a bear, then a lion, then a giant, followed by the Philistine nation. First there was the bear. A bear’s danger is in its claws, but a lion’s strength is its mouth. A giant such as Goliath made a threat showing his large weapons, and the Philistines could intimidate with their large numbers of soldiers. The anointing is the inner power of God that abides in a Spirit filled believer and is released in moments of ministry or as necessary when dealing with the powers of the enemy. Just as light can go out when the ancient lamps ran out of oil, a neglected prayer life can cause the fire to die and the anointing to decline. When the battle is on, then the presence of God must be your life source and the armor your protection. 2.
