This comes through the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Jesus suddenly showed up in a man’s life who was being driven to suicidal tendencies and cutting by evil spirits. When the spirits were cast out, the man was “sitting and clothed and in his right mind” (Mark 5:15). When you receive the redemptive covenant and allow Jesus into your situation, the tangible presence of Christ fills your heart and atmosphere, bringing rest (sitting), covering you with His presence (clothing you), and renewing you with a sound mind. At our OCI Gathering Place in Cleveland, Tennessee, we have a Tuesday night service geared toward bringing people closer to God and seeing the oppressed go free through anointed music, preaching, and altar ministry. As I wrote earlier in this chapter, I have discovered two things about cutters and those who feel on the verge of suicide . Both have usually experienced broken relationships and feelings of hopelessness. It is the responsibility of individual believers to reach out in unconditional love to those whose emotions are crushed and hearts are broken, letting the love of God be the balm that brings healing. When Christ preached His first sermon in Nazareth, He quoted from Isaiah 61, when He said: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
