Features of False Prophecy Any discussion of the prophetic and definition of prophets would be wanting if it did not address people’s number one problem with it—false prophecy. Throughout the ages, beginning with Cain’s countering of Abel’s representation of God that led to the younger brother’s death, false prophecy has been a problem for God. (See Luke 11:49–51.) Actually, the serpent’s deception of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden predates this. False prophecy has some very unmistakable features that all begin at two places:
