It is understood that the prophetic superintendent will have a staff to distribute these duties or delegate them as feasible. Just make sure the most sensitive responsibilities remain in his or her control. When to Call in a Prophet Much information has been given you on the subject of the prophetic in general and the church prophet in particular. You have been provided with background information on the ancient origins of the ministry and how it applies today. Nearly everything you need to institute the most efficient and effective prophetic order in your church and reap the fullest of benefits from it is included in this book. One issue not addressed so far is the use of prophets in the local church apart from the church prophet’s ministry. The Lord’s persistent promotion of the ministry of the prophet means you who read this book will at one time or another receive a prophet into your church or be one of the prophets a church calls in to serve its needs. It is scriptural to do so, based on Jesus’ promise to reward those with like rewards for receiving His prophets. (See Matthew 10:41.) That being the case, the restoration of the office in mainline Christendom means most churches today and in the future will call in a prophet to minister the supernaturals of God on occasion. The question is how to know when to call one in. Over the course of our discussions we have established how to know whom to call in. What remains then is a means of deciding when a prophet should be called into your church to minister to your people. To begin to answer this question, I suggest you look back to the sections that dealt with the ministries of Zechariah and Haggai and their ministries to Ezra and Nehemiah. From that information alone you get an idea of the situations that arise in which you and your church can benefit from an itinerant prophet’s service. Along with the examples given above, I want to add a few specifics that can help you decide on when to expose your church to prophetic ministry. The first thing you may want to consider is any concrete voids your church may be currently experiencing due to lack of prophetic ministration.
