A dversity Adversities are calamitous circumstances and conditions that cause anguish, affliction, distress, physical discomfort, and psychological damage. These life altering and sometimes life-threatening events can be national, financial, physical, organizational, ministerial, spiritual, or psychological in nature. (See Proverbs 24:10; Colossians 1:24.) A fflictions An affliction is a pathological (deviation from normalcy) condition of mind, body, soul, or spirit that produces suffering, sicknesses, disease, or conditions difficult to treat, cure, or overcome by human interventions. The ultimate cure, of course, is divine intervention. The list of afflictions include: trials and tribulations, sorrows of the soul (depression, rejection, inferiority complex, loneliness), physical ailments, emotional hardship, misfortunes, satanically induced vexation, satanic/demonic provocation, incurable disease and sick ness, adversity, abandonment, calamities and catastrophes, distress, and medical emergencies. A nger The Hebrew word for anger is anaph , which, when literally translated, means, “rapid breathing from passion.” 1 An angry person is often spoken of as someone who boils with anger, or who is hotheaded. This is because extreme anger affects every part of our being. The Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives should be the gatekeeper to our soul. The enemy wants to make you or people associated with you emotional volcanoes, erratically erupting and disrupting peace. Don’t let your (or anyone else’s) hot temper and emotions get the best of you, creating irrational, ungodly responses and behavior, fear, trepidation, and hostile environments for others to live in. The enemy would love to have you live a life driven by anger rather than being led by the Spirit of God. He wants to make you an emotional puppet on a diabolical string and open prey
