can make excuses about our leaders not following God and choose not to follow them, but what are we doing within our realm of authority to watch their backs? This is what real soldiers do—they look out for each other, some times to the death. Knowing your place and following godly orders is crucial to each one of us battling effectively in the spirit. God has placed powerful generals in the earth. It behooves us to submit to them. T he C hurch I s H eaven ’ s E arthly D epartment of D efense The church is heaven’s official agency in the earth for carrying out the “foreign” policies of its heavenly government through prayer and other meth odologies and strategies. As such, it functions somewhat like a legislative body. The church has been divinely instituted for the purpose of keeping the earth realm free from the aggressive advancements of the kingdom of darkness. As His governmental official, we represent (re-present) the King and His kingdom. Therefore, when we pray, we are praying that heaven will invade Earth on our behalf. Prayer keeps you connected to your headquarters. Prayer puts you to work, especially when you obey 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.” Prayer puts God to work because He states in Isaiah 45:11, “Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me,” and in Psalm 2:8, “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” Prayer also puts the angelic host to work according to Genesis 18:1–19:29, warring on our behalf, protecting us from the unseen, and ministering to us in our hours of need. As I said above, God has given the church the fivefold ministry gifts. From the wisdom and insight given to those with those gifts, the policies, princi ples, and mandates of the kingdom are communicated to the entire spiritual military. As ambassadors and military officers of the kingdom of heaven, we are given the commands to:

Influence the world and affect change in the lives of those who are bound by the kingdom of darkness Impact the major systems of the world—social, political, economical, educational, familial, cultural, and so on—
