It also has the power to abort purpose, derail divine destinies, and assassinate future hope and faith in the power of God. It is of extreme importance to compre hend the insidious nature of this spirit relative to our future, because the way we perceive or think about the future actually sculpts and contours how we handle the present. Fear comes from the root word phobos , which means, “that which may cause flight.” This is also where we get the word phobia , which is a persistent irrational fear of something that is so strong that it compels us to avoid the object of the fear.
