To accomplish their goals, familiar spirits have the ability to use animals, talisman (any object or piece of clothing that witches and warlocks and other workers of the craft use to transfer spells and hexes), and people whose lives are characterized by demonic/satanic alliances. These spirits are particularly effective in séances. Using deception, they attempt to hold people captive in the darkness of their underworld activities. Leviticus 19:31 clearly warns us against establishing any kind of communica tion with familiar spirits. 3. Spirits of inheritance and generational curses Exodus 20:5 makes us aware of intergenerational spirits that are responsible for producing family and community peculiarities, ancestral eccentricities, idiosyncratic issues, ethnic traits, social tendencies, clannish oddities, patho logical conditions of the mind and body, individualities, fundamental values, cultures, passions, motives, intentions, agendas, habits, ideologies, percep tions, temperaments, personalities, illnesses, degenerative diseases, and congenital diseases. 4. Unholy alliances: diabolical confederations and associations These principalities and spirits identify and mobilize other principali ties and spirits to form confederations. They may be configured as legions, as with the Gadarene in Mark 5:1–20, or use entire communities, nations, or individuals in order to accomplish their heinous mandates and insidious assignments such as the mob in Acts 16:12–24. Unholy alliances unite spirit to spirit, spirit to soul, spirit to body, body to body, or soul to body. This kind of satanic activity can either influence from without or take on the form of total possession when the identity, personality, and the will of a spirit being is superimposed upon the identity, personality, and will of the host. They affect humanity spiritually—mind, will, destiny, purpose, gifts, ability, conviction, belief system, value, culture, or ethics; psychologically—emotions, person ality, temperament, unconscious behavior and activity, or perception; and neurologically—the nervous and limbic system. Unholy alliances produce strongholds, vain imaginations, high things, ungodly ambitions, corrupt desires, bondages, habits, satanic soul ties, ungodly attachments and entanglements, affinities, besetting sin, snares, stumbling blocks, yokes, ungodly covenants, and a variety of intrinsic and extrinsic weapons.
