Release Salvation, healing balm of Gilead, purpose, timing of the Lord, the heart of a servant, integrity, apostolic anointing, peace, truth, fruit of the Spirit, fear of the Lord, discipline, and honesty S pirit of A ffinity This spirit falls into five categories: soul ties, familiar spirits, spirits of inheri tance/generational curses, carnality, and unholy alliances. Although each of the aforementioned play an integral role with this strongman and form a very solid bond, we will deal with the strongman of carnality as a separate heading and soul ties, familiar spirits, inheritance/generational curse, and unholy alliances under this heading. 1. Soul ties Soul ties have the power to attract, unite, and create forces of connected ness (covenants) between two entities or individuals for the purpose of the reinforcement of divine or diabolical intents. Concerning diabolical intents and purposes, the ultimate aim is to distract and derail an individual, thus destroying his chances of fulfilling purpose, maximizing his potential, and reaching his destiny. This spirit robs entities of their innocence, purity, sincerity, and focus, and often acts as a doorkeeper for other spirits. First Kings 11:1–13 records how Solomon had soul ties with many women. This led to the downfall of his kingdom. But not every soul tie is diabolical, such as marriage; friendship; family; ecclesiastical; and covering, mentorship, or leadership soul ties. However, the enemy can use these God-given relationships and twist and pervert them in order to fulfill his plans and purposes. These satanic soul ties can happen through certain kinds of relationships, sexual partners, demonic influences, and organizations such as lodges, certain religions, or cults. 2. Familiar spirits As we discussed in chapter 5, “Knowing Your Enemy,” familiar spirits are demonic agents whose main assignment is to become well acquainted with a person or groups of people. They are designed to kill, steal, and destroy geographical areas, cultures, and individuals. Every city, country, family, person, and any living entity has entry points—gates and doors—that we
